DSC01345There are many ways in which you can help the Savong Organization, one of which being through volunteering your time and knowledge. The Savong Organization aims to break the cycle of poverty through providing education in foreign languages as a means of increasing employment opportunity later in life.

We encourage vibrant, enthusiastic volunteers to come and teach in our English classes in one of our branches.

What will I do as a volunteer?

As a volunteer at the Savong Organization Cambodia, you can share your expertise of the English language by teaching in our English classes, or if you can speak fluently you can also teach in our Korean or Japanese classes. We also offer computer classes that you can assist in as well.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone over the age of 18 can come to volunteer at the Savong Organization Cambodia. You don’t have to have a teaching degree however we ask that you have a strong understanding of the language you want to teach. If you share a love of children and are passionate about improving the lives of the children who study with us, then you’ll be welcomed into our program.

Do I need to make my own teaching schedule?

Our full-time Cambodian teachers already have a teaching schedule which was provided to them by the Organization’s Education Department. With the guidance of our teacher, you can work together in bringing a new energy to the classroom through providing the children with the best possible education. Classes are taught Monday – Friday, and are taken 8am – 11am, and 2pm to 5pm.

Do I need to do anything before I arrive?

We do ask that everyone wishing to volunteer with the Savong Organization Cambodia does some fundraising for the organization before arriving in Siem Reap. There is no minimum amount you need to raise in order to volunteer, but we ask you to raise as much as you can for two reasons:

DSC012961. To discourage casuals from who turn up for a day, disrupt classes, take photos and then leave – providing no benefit whatever for the local students.

2. Yes, we do need more funds. Just like any school in any community (no matter what country) we need more resources including textbooks, laptops, and funds to support our scholarship students through University.

How can I enroll myself as a volunteer?

The first thing you need to do is read through our volunteer code of conduct. You need to understand and agree with everything set out there, but of course you can also contact us and ask any questions if you need to.

Please read through our Volunteer Code Of Conduct below, as well as our Volunteer Guide, and Volunteer Resources
